  5. Setup autoresponse messages in the "Auto-Reply" messages section, and ask your participants to text in: FIRST LAST Names in the message. FIRST and LAST name MUST be the first 2 word in the message after the SMS keyword, in order to be saved as names for the contact. Please, set proper instructions in the Auto-Reply message so participants text back the name correctly.

You can setup auto-replies here: https://www.protexting.com/members/notifications.php

  6. Does it work only for existing contacts?  NO, Does not work for existing contacts. Contacts MUST text-in their names going forward, after you activate the app.

Or, yo can send a new text blast Group SMS Campaign and ask your clients for their names. Just ask the customers to text back in their names, with instructions: FIRST and LAST name to start the message with.  If customers reply to your messages, there is no need for a SMS Keyword to intitiate the conversation.

  7. A sample message flow:

a.) Customers Text-In your SMS KEYWORD, example "JOIN".
b.) Auto-reply message sent back: Thank you for signing up for our text messaging service. Please REPLY back with your FIRST LAST names to update your profile.

Suggestion: in all auto-reply messages you can add an incentive, promo code for example, so clients text back their names.

  8. In addition to "Name Capture", you can also use the app "Email Capture" to collect email addresses as well. You can ask your customers in 1 message, with the following format: Please text back your FIRST LAST names and email please.

Important: Email will be captured ANYWHERE in the message, so no need to follow certain order of the words in the SMS. If you have "Email Capture" app turned ON, it will scan all incoming messages and automatically update the email address for the number/contact that texted-in.  If customers initiate the conversation, by texting a keyword, the keyword MUST be the first word in the message (then followed by names and email) so it created the flow of the conversation.
