A bad text joke
Jul 24, 2009 21:21 A text message containing the news about the passing of Former President Corazon C. Aquino circulated here recently in Manila, and of course, those who received the message was saddened by the news--only to find out that the message was a joke or false alarm.
Mrs Aquino is alive and continues to fight her battle against colon cancer. Many people, including the Pope, have been praying for her recovery, and the former President has been happy to know that, "collectively", people are praying for her.
Text jokes are nothing new here, but this one comes at a wrong time because most Filipinos are praying to give Mrs Aquino the strength and will to continue fighting. Mrs. Aquino has refused treatment and chemotherapy, and has left her fate to God.
I invite everyone to please pray for our former President. If a miracle is too much to ask, then let us all pray for comfort at least. And to those who have nothing to do but to spread rumors like this, go find a dictionary and look for the meaning of the word "karma".
This is one example of how technology is being used wrongly.
God Bless!
